Malaysia’s capital city airport posts 83.2% increase in passenger throughput

International travellers through the airport were 114% higher at 2.9 million, KLIA operator, Malaysia Airport Holdings (MAHB). said. “Airports in Malaysia continue to chart a steady traffic recovery,” MAHB said. “Growth from both international and domestic sectors [for the month] was due to the local school break towards the tail end of July, summer holidays in the northern hemisphere, a gradual return of China travellers, returning Hajj pilgrims, the operations of new airlines and additional flight frequencies introduced after the removal of border restrictions.” KLIA’s July passengers represented 78.3% of the 5.5 million passengers it processed in July 2019.
