China Eastern Airlines cuts half-year losses to US$859 million

China Eastern Airlines (CEA) has reported a net loss of 6.2 billion yuan (US$859 million) for the six months to June 30 compared with a net loss of 18.7 billion yuan in interim 2022. Read More » Revenue rose 155.4%, to 49.4 billion yuan, CEA said in a regulatory filing. “Demand for air passenger transportation in China rebounded sharply, showing a steady recovery trend in general,” CEA said. “At the same time, CEA faced challenges such as the delay in the recovery of international routes and the depreciation of yuan against the US dollar.” The outlook was uncertain, CEA said, and noted the imbalance in domestic supply and demand and the lagging recovery of international routes.
