China Eastern Airlines expects China market to grow rapidly even under pressure

China Eastern Airlines (CEA) said China's aviation sector was expected to grow rapidly over the second half of calendar 2023 amid an uncertain outlook. Read More » The airline said although North America, Europe and the Middle East were leading the recovery from COVID-19, the gap with the Asia-Pacific region was narrowing. "With the arrival of the summer peak season and the National Day Golden Week, China’s civil aviation industry is expected to recover and grow rapidly, but at the same time, it is under the pressure of imbalanced domestic supply and demand and the lagging recovery of international routes," CEA said in its interim report. "In the second half of 2023, the group will adhere to the general tone of seeking progress while maintaining stability, focus on stabilising safety and improving efficiency, concentrate on service and brand building, promoting reform and fulfilling responsibilities."
