Qantas Group increasing fares as fuel costs rise

Qantas Group will lift airfares at its airlines in response to the rising cost of fuel. Read More » Qantas Group domestic and international fares will be 3.5% higher and 3% will be added to the price of a Jetstar ticket. The fare increases only partially cover the expected higher fuel bill, the company said. In September, Qantas said fuel prices had risen by 30% since May due to higher oil prices, higher refinery margins and a lower Australian dollar. Its fuel bill will go up from A$200 million (US$126 million) to A$2.8 billion in the six months to December 31, 2023.
