Boeing narrows third quarter loss to US$1.6 billion

Boeing has reported a net loss of US$1.6 billion for the three months to September 30, an improvement from a net loss of US$3.3 billion in the same quarter in 2022. Read More » Revenue rose 13%, to US$18.1 billion, Boeing said in a regulatory filing. “We continue to progress in our recovery and despite near-term challenges, we remain on track to meet the financial goals we set for this year and for the long-term,” Boeing CEO, Dave Calhoun, said. “We are focused on driving stability in our supply chain and improving operational performance as we steadily increase production rates to meet strong demand.” Boeing lowered its delivery guidance for its 737 MAX program to 375-400 aircraft in calendar 2023, down from 400-450 aircraft previously forecast, due to a manufacturing issue with the aft pressure bulkhead section of some of the type. “This is not an immediate safety of flight issue and the in-service fleet can continue operating safely,” Boeing said. “Near-term deliveries and production will be impacted as the program performs necessary inspections and rework.” Boeing reaffirmed its delivery target for its 787 program of 70 to 80 aircraft this year.
