Korean Air’s credit rating restored to A-

Korea Credit Rating has raised Korean Air’s credit rating from BBB+ to A- amid strong demand for international air travel, its recent run of profits and an improving financial position. Read More » The ratings agency also assessed KAL has the financial strength to manage its planned acquisition of Asiana Airlines. The flag carrier has not held an A level credit rating since December 2015. KAL said the upgraded credit rating is expected to generate demand from new institutional investors and make it easier for the company to raise capital. In other news, the airline said the Korea Institute of Corporate Governance and Sustainability (KCGS) had given it an A rating for environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles for a fourth straight year.
