Sichuan Airlines resumes Chengdu-Sydney after COVID hiatus

Sydney Airport CEO, Geoff Culbert, said the airport's flights to China will be 86% of pre-pandemic levels by later this month with eight airlines - seven from China and Qantas Airways – offering nonstop Sydney-Mainland services. “A decade ago, Sichuan Airlines operated its maiden flight to Sydney Airport. To welcome the carrier back after a break of almost four years marks an important milestone in our recovery journey,” Culbert said. “The return of Sichuan Airlines comes at a time when capacity to China is nearing pre-COVID levels, something that seemed impossible at the start of the year.” Sichuan Airlines general manager of commercial committee, Deyun Wu, said: “We are so excited to open up Chengdu-Sydney and proud to welcome Australians to the home of the giant panda.”
