IndiGo said the number of aircraft on ground (AOG) in the three months to March 31 2024 was expected to be "in the range of mid-thirties" due to required inspections of the Pratt & Whitney (P&W) geared turbofan engines which power its fleet of A320 family aircraft. Read More » "These groundings will be incremental to the current AOGs," IndiGo said. In September, P&W disclosed a rare condition in the powder metal used to manufacture certain parts of PW1100G-JM GTF engine and a requirement for accelerated inspections to occur between now and 2025. "We continue to work with Pratt & Whitney on more information and addressing the situation and implementing mitigation measures to minimise the impact of these AOGs on our capacity in Q4 FY23-24 and beyond," IndiGo said. "IndiGo also remains confident in meeting its long-term capacity guidance." The LCC said its recent capacity guidance for its 2023/24 fiscal year, which ends on March 31 2024, was unchanged, with the airline expected to increase available seat kilometres (ASK) by 25% in the three months to December 31 2023, compared with the same three months in 2022. Forecast ASKs for the full fiscal year was also unchanged, with "north of mid-teens" growth expected.
