Taiwan's largest airlines book strong passenger growth in October

Taiwan's China Airlines (CAL) and EVA Airways (EVA) have recorded 300% plus increases in passengers and strong revenue growth for their latest months. Read More » EVA Airways (EVA) flew 1.1 million passengers in October over the 318,303 customers carried in the same days in 2022. October was the third time in the last four months that the Star Alliance member had carried more than a million passengers in a calendar month. Passenger revenue increased 186.9%, to TW$12 billion (US$379 million), from TW$4.2 billion a year earlier, EVA said. China Airlines (CAL) flew 896,036 passengers last month, a 347.2% improvement from the 200,366 passengers it transported in October 2022. The SkyTeam alliance member booked passenger revenue of TW$8.7 billion for the 31 days against the TW$2.7 billion earned 12 months ago. Compared with pre-COVID-19 passenger numbers, EVA and CAL were at 92.6% and 69.1%, respectfully, of the customers they flew in October 2019.
