Australia domestic passengers flown improve by 6.5% in September

Australia's airlines flew 5 million passengers on scheduled domestic services in September against 4.7 million customers in the same month a year earlier. Read More » Since April 2022, the country’s domestic traffic has fluctuated between 4 million and 5 million, latest figures from Australia's Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Research Economics (BITRE) reveal. Capacity, or available seat kilometres (ASK), was 11.2% higher year-on-year but passenger load factor dipped 4.1 percentage points to 81.6%, BITRE said. Against pre-COVID-19 activity, the September results were 96.1% of the 5.2 million domestic air travellers flown in September 2019. Domestic ASKs at Australian airlines were 99.1% of capacity offered four years ago.
