Airports of Thailand has reported a net profit of 8.8 billion baht (US$249 million) for the 12 months to September 30, returning to profitability from a net loss of 11.1 billion baht in the previous year.
Cathay Pacific said more than 280 university students competed in its annual Hackathon, a 24-hour event where participants develop, prototype and pitch their creative ideas for improving the customer travel experience, elevating Cathay’s premium lifestyle services and promoting its cargo services. They were supported by coaches from the airline and partners Airport Authority Hong Kong, Cyberport, Hong Kong Science and Technology Park, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud, Microsoft, Huawei, Alibaba Cloud and iOS Club. The winning team proposed applying the technologies of artificial intelligence and vision-based dimensioning systems to optimise spacing in cargo loads.
Korean Air has signed a partnership agreement with logistical company, LX Pantos, to increase the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) on cargo flights. LX Pantos will purchase SAF for KAL cargo operations and the South Korean flag carrier will share the spread of carbon emissions reduced from flying with SAF.
Safran said the Italian government had exercised its “Golden Power” to block part of the company's proposed acquisition of Collins Aerospace's actuation and flight control business. “Safran remains committed to the transaction and is working with all parties to determine the appropriate next steps,” Safran said.
