All Nippon Airways and Japan Airlines to joint ground handling initiatives

Japan's two largest airlines said they were working to standardise ground handling operations and share systems, terminals and facilities to ensure there were enough workers to support the ongoing growth of the industry amid an ageing workforce. Read More » All Nippon Airways (ANA) and Japan Airlines (JAL) said in a joint statement they planned to introduce mutual recognition of ground handling qualification to improve productivity. Mutual recognition allowed a ground handler working for ANA to undertake the same work for JAL without going through additional training. This cooperation was expected to commence in April 2024 at a number of local airports in Japan, such as Rishiri, Nemuro Nakashibetsu, Hakodate, Akita, Sendai, Niigata, Okayama, Tokushima, Kochi and Kagoshima.
