International airline association’s latest update reports 31.2% increase in air passengers

Read More » Worldwide RPKs have recovered to 98.2% of pre-pandemic levels the International Air Transport Association (IATA) said this week. “October’s strong result brings the industry ever closer to completing its post-pandemic traffic recovery,” IATA director general, Willie Walsh, said. “Domestic markets remain above pre-COVID levels, but international demand is recovering more slowly.” The Asia-Pacific had the strongest year-on-year RPK expansion for the reported month, at 90.9%, but Walsh emphasised international demand at the region’s carriers was 19.5% lower than in 2019. “This could reflect the late lifting of COVID restrictions in some parts of the region, commercial developments and political tensions,” he said.
