Turkish Airlines headed to Melbourne with one stop service via Singapore

The Turkish flag carrier intends to increase the route to daily, and in the longer term, operate nonstop Istanbul-Melbourne when aircraft capable of covering the distance are available. “We are excited to add Melbourne as our 346th destination in our network. Australia, with its natural beauty and hospitable people, will become the 130th country and sixth continent under our wings,” Turkish Airlines chair, Prof. Dr Ahmet Bolat, said. The route is supported by the Victorian government and Melbourne Tullamarine Airport. “It is no surprise Turkish Airlines has chosen Melbourne as its first Australian destination given we are home to the nation’s largest Turkish community and our position as the capital of food, sport and culture,” Melbourne Airport chief of aviation, Jim Parashos, said.
