The Ministry of Civil Aviation in India said it is keeping a close watch on the number of flight cancellations and delayed services at Vistara. Read More » It also is reminding Vistara, and India-based airlines more generally, to look after passengers impacted by cancelled or delayed flights and meet obligations set by the country's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). “The Ministry of Civil Aviation is monitoring Vistara’s flight cancellations,” the Ministry said on social media. “Flight operations are managed by airlines, but airlines have to comply with DGCA norms to ensure passenger facilitation in case of cancellation or delay of flights.” Local media has reported the Tata Group and Singapore Airlines joint venture carrier cancelled around 50 flights on April 1 with a another 160 services delayed. Vistara is struggling with a pilot shortage, media reports, potentially due to flight crew reporting sick in protest at proposed changes to their pay and conditions after Vistara’s planned merger with 100% Tata Group owned Air India is completed.
