Qantas resumes nonstop Sydney-Port Moresby after five decade hiatus

Qantas Airways restored Sydney-Port Moresby on April 1, when 737-800 registration VH-VZX operated the QF191/192 rotation between the two cities. Read More » The oneworld alliance member said it was the airline's first commercial service linking Sydney and Port Moresby in more than five decades. The new twice a week Sydney-Port Moresby route joins Qantas's existing daily flight between Brisbane and the Papua New Guinea capital. “These flights will meet the growing demand from the business community for travel between Australia and Papua New Guinea,” Qantas International CEO, Cam Wallace, said. “It will save customers at least three hours in travel time on return trips by avoiding a stopover in Brisbane.” Air Niugini flies nonstop to Brisbane and Sydney from its Port Moresby home hub.
