Taiwan’s Transportation Safety Board disadvantaged in fight for aviation talents

An investigator from the Taiwan Transportation Safety Board (TTSB) recently switched jobs to STARLUX Airlines, Taiwan’s Central News Agency (CNA) reports. Read More » The investigator, who joined the TTSB five years ago after being a pilot at EVA Airways Airbus A330 fleet is still qualified to work as a pilot. The TTSB chairman Lin Shinn-der, told CNA that the investigator was very skilled and he tried his best to retain him, however the airline that currently needs pilots, offered the investigator an almost three times higher salary than NT$100,000 (US$3,100) the investigator aviation team earns. STARLUX Airlines spokesman Nieh Kuo-wei told CNA the airline is in search of pilots for its growing fleet, selecting outstanding talents from all parties in addition to its cadet program. In 2022, a Civil Aviation Administration inspector with flight experience was also poached to STARLUX Airlines, while last year TTSB investigator from the marine section with captain's qualifications decided to resign from his post and work for the private sector.
