Philippines airlines cancel flights after Mt Kanlaon volcano erupts

AirAsia Philippines, Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines (PAL) cancelled some flights and rerouted others on June 4 after the eruption of the Mt Kanlaon volcano a day earlier. Read More » AirAsia Philippines said 16 flights were impacted: six flights cancelled, eight delayed and two re-routed. “The safety of our flight crew and guests is always a top priority,” AirAsia Philippines communications and public affairs country head, First Officer Steve Dailisan, said. “We are closely coordinating with aviation authorities to timely share relevant information with our guests.” PAL cancelled 22 flights yesterday, describing the volcano eruption as a “developing situation”. It advised passengers to check the status of their flights before making their way to the airport. “We seek your understanding about these operational changes as flight and passenger safety remains our top priority,” PAL said. Cebu Pacific cancelled eight flights on June 4 and said more cancellations may be necessary.
