Air New Zealand (Air NZ) has rolled out a live chat option offers customers the ability to contact a member of the airline's customer care team 24 hours a day, seven days a week following a recent trial. The live chat innovation is in addition to Air NZ's AI chatbot, Oscar.
An Airbus, German Aerospace Center, Neste and Rolls-Royce study that compared the use of 100% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and standard Jet A-1 fuel on a A350 equipped with Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines found the number of contrail ice crystals per mass of unblended SAF consumed was reduced by 56% and that there was a significant reduction in soot particle emissions.
Eaton and SIA Engineering Company (SIAEC) have established a joint venture company, Eaton Aerospace Component Services Asia. Located.in Malaysia, it will offer MRO services on Eaton-manufactured airframe, engine fuel systems and hydraulic systems components. The partners signed a definitive agreement to form the joint venture in June 2023. Eaton will have a 51% holding in the company and SIAEC the remaining 49%.
Engine lessor, FTAI Aviation Ltd, and International Aero Engines have signed a five-year engine maintenance services agreement for the V2500 power plant.
Singapore-listed ST Engineering has commenced construction of a third aircraft MRO hangar at Florida’s Pensacola Airport. Commencement of operations is scheduled for the second half of 2026.
Qantas is refurbishing its Qantas Club and Chairman lounge as well as the building a new domestic business lounge, at Adelaide Airport. The refurbished Qantas Club is due to open in November and the business lounge and the invitation only Chairman’s Lounge in mid-2025.
