Regional Airlines (Rex) said late last week that Lim Kim Hai had stepped down as executive chair of the Australia-listed airline group but that he will retain his seat on the board as a non-executive director. The board and executive changes were announced a week after Rex responded to Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) questions about the company's acquisition of National Jet Express (NJE) in 2022. A particular focus of the ASX request were the relevant interests of NJE and Rex held by Tjoa Thian Song, the brother-in-law of then chair Lim. Rex said it was compliant with the ASX's listing rules. “Rex has appropriate conflict and other corporate governance charters and procedures in place. Those procedures were properly followed and applied when considering and implementing the acquisition of NJE,” Rex said.
