Air New Zealand to increase capacity to key Asia-Pacific destinations

Air New Zealand (AirNZ) CEO, Greg Foran, who was in Japan this week as a member of a New Zealand business delegation, said the flag carrier will add 30,000 seats between New Zealand and Japan from this November to next March to accommodate strong demand, particularly in its business and premium economy cabins. Read More » As part of the capacity increase, the Star Alliance member will up gauge from the 787-9 to the larger 777-300ER on several New Zealand-Japan flights. “Adding the 777 to our Tokyo services means more seats are available in premium cabins and customers can experience our newly refreshed aircraft that includes new seat covers and updated soft products like pillows and blankets,” Foran said. Air NZ also will offer about 20,000 more seats from New Zealand to Singapore and 7,500 extra seats to Taipei in the same five months. “Our premium cabins are incredibly popular with customers travelling to and from destinations like Singapore, Tokyo and Taipei, so we are pleased to introduce increased capacity from November to give these customers more seats to book travel,” Foran said.
