China Eastern Airlines recorded “significant” traffic increase last month

In July, China Eastern Airlines (CEA) passenger capacity increased 17.14% against the same month a year ago and reached 115.57% of the same 31 days in 2019. Read More » CEA said passenger traffic, measured by revenue passenger-kilometers, increased 24.25% year-on-year and was 117.3% higher than the matching month in pre-pandemic 2019. Passenger load factor was up 4.76 percentage points year-on-year, to 83.18%. In July 2019, passenger load factor was 81.95%. CEA carried almost 13 million passengers for the month, 12.62% more than July 2023, including 1.6 million air travellers on international routes; 104% of the corresponding month in 2023. More than 63 million passengers traveled with CEA from January 1 to July 31 this year, including 2.4 million travellers on international routes, 296% more customers than a year ago.
