Among the 56 policies set out in an Australian Government aviation White Paper, released on August 26, are proposals for an industry ombudsman and a customer charter. Read More » The White Paper’s scope ranges from consumer rights, accessibility to air travel, competition, regional aviation, workforce supply and aircraft noise to decarbonisation and airport planning. “It’s one of the most significant packages of aviation reforms in more than a decade,” Australia’s Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, Catherine King, told reporters. “Airlines, in particular, will be subject to a show cause requirement when flights are delayed or cancelled. We also will increase the transparency of airline performance.”
