Hong Kong International Airport to celebrate runway opening with running race

Professional and amateur runners at all levels are being offered the opportunity to race on Hong Kong International Airport's (HKIA) centre runway as part of celebrations to mark the airport's upgrade and full operations of its three-runway system. Read More » The Three-Runway System 10km International Race, co-sponsored by Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) and Standard Chartered Bank, is scheduled for November 17 and will have 10km, 5km, 3km and 10km wheelchair categories as well as an elite 10km women’s challenge. Participants will be capped at 12,000 with a ballot to be applied if the event is oversubscribed. “Work on HKIA’s three-runway system has been progressing steadily. All three runways will commence operations by the end of this year,” AAHK acting CEO, Vivian Cheung, said. “The Three-Runway System 10km International Race is our celebration of this monumental occasion with the public, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for runners to compete on the centre runway before its reopening.”
