Air India and Singapore Airlines broadening code-share networks

Air India (AI) and Singapore Airlines (SIA) will significantly expand their code-share agreement with the addition of 11 Indian cities and another 40 international destinations across their schedules. Read More » From October 27, the two flag carriers will code-share on each other’s flights between Singapore and the Indian cities of Bengaluru and Chennai, increasing their weekly scheduled code-share services from 14 to up to 56. SIA will code-share on several AI domestic flights from Delhi and Mumbai and between Kolkata and Guwahati. SIA passengers will be able to connect to AI’s international services from Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai to 12 destinations across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. AI customers will have access to 29 SIA destinations in Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia and East Asia. “Air India and Singapore Airlines have been longtime partners. With this expanded code-sharing, we are excited to offer our guests greater connectivity to destinations across Southeast Asia, the Far East, and Australasia,” Air India, CCO, Nipun Aggarwal, said. “This expansion of our code-share arrangements with Air India reflects the strong collaborative spirit between our two carriers. It demonstrates our commitment to meeting high demand for air travel between India and Singapore and beyond, and is contributing to the growth of both aviation markets,” Singapore Airlines CCO, Lee Lik Hsin, added. The latest collaboration is the first extensive expansion of codeshare arrangements between the airlines since 2010. Both airlines plan to progressively include more destinations in their networks as part of the new code-share arrangements.
