Qantas Group to establish Australia’s first safety academy

Qantas Group will invest more than $40 million to train the next generation of Australian aviation talent and accelerate skills across the airline and the broader industry. Read More » In 2025, the airline group will open the Qantas Group Safety Academy in partnership with Griffith University in Brisbane and RMIT University in Melbourne, offering safety education courses to up-skill safety professionals and develop safety leaders across all industries. In mid-2026, the group will inaugurate the Sydney Ground Training Facility at the Qantas Group’s Mascot campus. The company also is doubling scholarships available for female students and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders attending its pilot training academy in Southern Queensland to 20 a year at a cost of A$30,000 per student. “With an historic fleet renewal program underway, we have more than a hundred new aircraft on order for Qantas and Jetstar that represents growth opportunities for our people and the broader industry,” Qantas Group CEO, Vanessa Hudson, said.
