Virgin Australia and Qatar Airways agree sustainability partnership

Virgin Australia (VA) and Qatar Airways have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly work on sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and low carbon aviation fuel development, waste management, sustainable procurement and workforce development. Qatar Airways group senior vice president aero-political and corporate affairs, Fathi Atti, said: “We look forward to working with Virgin Australia to share our experiences and build upon our strong leadership in these areas." The two airlines already code-share and operate a frequent flyer partnership. Recently, Qatar Airways revealed it is seeking regulatory approval to acquire 25% of VA and to wet lease wide-body aircraft to commence nonstop Doha to Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.
