Airports of Thailand (AOT) is testing facial recognition technology that will allow passengers to proceed from check-in to the boarding gate without using their passports or boarding passes. The test program will start on November 1 for domestic customers travelling through Bangkok Suvarnabhumi, Bangkok Don Mueang, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phuket and Hat Yai airports and begin a month later for all international passengers using any of the six airports being trialled, AOT director, Kirati Kitmanawat, said.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore has announced the country has signed a new air services agreement (ASA) with Cuba and updated ASAs with the Dominican Republic, Kazakhstan, the Seychelles and Switzerland. The ASAs were agreed at an International Civil Aviation Organization air services negotiation event in Kuala Lumpur last week.
Korean Air held its second annual safety day at its Seoul headquarters late last week. The 210 attendees included the airline’s president, Woo Kee-hong and vice president of safety and health and operations division, Yoo Jong-seok.
