Asia-Pacific airlines post 18.8% increase in international passengers

Read More » Capacity was higher by 18.7% year-on-year and passenger load factor was 0.4 of a percentage point better at 80.5%, the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) said. “Asian airlines have seen robust growth in travel markets this year," AAPA director general, Subhas Menon, said. "Leisure demand remained buoyant driving increases in tourist arrivals across the region. Meanwhile, business travel was underpinned by the region’s growing economies." Airlines continue to face challenges in fleet renewal and network growth as a result of supply chain disruptions and aircraft delivery delays, he said. AAPA data for the month represented 97.5% of the 30 million passengers Asia-Pacific airlines transported in pre-COVID September 2019.
