China Eastern Airlines booked US$280 million net profit in latest three months

China Eastern Airlines (CEA) has reported a net profit of 2 billion yuan (US$280 million) for the 2024 third quarter, a 30% decline against third quarter 2023, “mainly attributable to a year-on-year decrease in results affected by the factors such as intensified competition in the domestic passenger transportation market, the lack of capacity recovery in some international markets, competition from high-speed rail and oil price fluctuations”, CEA said.
