JAL Group interim net profit declines 19.1%

JAL Group’s net profit fell away to 49.8 billion yen (US$325 million) in the six months to September 30 from 61.6 billion yen net profit in first half 2023. The parent company of Japan Airlines, Spring Japan and ZIPAIR Tokyo enjoyed robust inbound demand and a “steady recovery” on outbound Japan routes. Domestic market traffic yield improved, but leisure demand did not materalise in the numbers forecast. “Various promotional campaigns have been implemented to stimulate demand. Second half revenue is predicted to progress as initially planned,” JAL said. The company is maintaining its guidance of a full-year net profit of 100 billion yen from revenue of 1.9 trillion yen.
