China and India have discussed the resumption of direct flights between the two countries on the sidelines of the Group of 20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro. Read More » The prospect of restoring nonstop flights linking India and China was discussed between China’s foreign minister, Wang Yi, and India’s minister of external affairs, S Jaishankar, the China Ministry of Foreign Affairs website states. Wang said the two countries should strive to make practical progress in resuming direct flights, send journalists to both countries and facilitate visas as soon as possible, a website summary added. Relations between China and India have been strained since 2020 when border disputes in the Himalayas resulted in the deaths of soldiers from both sides.
