Hong Kong International Airport reports 21.3% passenger traffic increase in October

Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) welcomed 4.6 million air travellers last month, up from 3.8 million passengers a year ago. Read More » Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) said traffic growth was steady in all passenger segments. “Hong Kong residents, visitors and transfer and transit passengers experienced double-digit year-on-year increases in October,” AAHK said. “Traffic to and from Southeast Asia, China and Japan delivered the most significant growth in the month,” it said, and added local carriers Cathay Pacific, Greater Bay Airlines and Hong Kong Airlines launched new routes last month. Passenger volume for the reported 31 days was an 84.8% recovery from the 5.4 million passengers who travelled through the airport in pre-pandemic October 2019. Cargo volumes for the reported month expanded 12.7%, to 442,000 tonnes, compared with 12 months ago.
