Cathay Pacific and Singapore Airlines investigating direct flights to Tasmania

Cathay Pacific and Singapore Airlines (SIA) are in talks with Tasmania’s government about opening direct flights to Hobart, the capital of the southern Australia island state, from their home hubs. Read More » Tasmania’s premier, Jeremy Rockliff, told local news outlet Pulse Tasmania about the discussions. The information has been confirmed on several social media platforms. “These are two world-leading air carriers. We would love to see them flying direct to Hobart,” premier Rockliff said. Potentially, the routes could start in mid-2025 after the upgrade of Hobart airport’s runway, taxiway and apron necessary to accommodate wide-body jets. Cathay Pacific has operated A350 and 777 cargo flights between Hong Kong and Hobart.
