SMBC Aviation Capital has signed leases with Thai Airways International (THAI) for eight A321neo from the lessor’s direct order book with the European OEM. Read More » Deliveries are scheduled for 2026 and 2027. “The A321neo will boost THAI’s operational efficiency, enhance customer comfort and promote a more sustainable aviation industry,” SMBC Aviation Capital head of airline marketing, Conor Stafford, said. THAI plans to build its neo fleet to 12. Last year the flag carrier chose CFM International Leap 1A engines for its A321neo fleet. In June, at the International Air Transport Association annual general meeting, THAI CEO, Chai Eamsiri, told Aviation Week the carrier is building a CFM Leap 1A engine shop at Bangkok's Don Mueang International Airport to service its incoming A321neo fleet.
