Korean Air increases net profit by 36.8% in 2024

Korean Air (KAL) has reported net profit was better by 1.3 trillion won (US$853 million) in calendar 2024 compared with 916.8 billion won the previous year. Read More » Revenue was higher by 10.6%, at 16.1 trillion won, KAL said in a regulatory filing. “The airline maintained stable profitability by strategically adjusting capacity to meet strong winter tourism demand and enhancing premium class service to improve load factors,” KAL said. The SkyTeam alliance member is maximising passenger revenue in the first quarter of this year by maintaining capacity on high-demand routes and expanding charter flights in response to “sustained long-haul demand and an anticipated recovery in the China market”, it said. The outlook for 2025 is uncertain, KAL said, due to the global political landscape. “However, the airline remains committed to strengthening its competitiveness as a leading global carrier by strategically preparing for its integration with Asiana Airlines,” it added.
