T’way increases spare LEAP-1B engine inventory

South Korea-headquartered T’way Airlines has purchased spare CFM International LEAP-1B engines to support its growing 737 MAX 8 fleet. Read More » T’way’s announcement did not disclose the number of engines it purchased. The LCC plans to increase its 737 MAX 8 fleet from two aircraft year-to-date to 20 of the type by year-end 2027. The narrow-bodies will gradually replace T’way’s older 737-800s. The spare LEAP-1B engines strengthen maintenance capabilities, allow the airline to more quickly respond to engine-related disruptions and enhance operational safety, T’way said.
