EVA Airways unveils 787-9 premium economy seat

EVA Airways (EVA) has lifted the curtain on its new premium economy cabin that it is rolling out across its 787-9 fleet. Read More » The inaugural route for the cabin, which is equipped with 28 seats in a 2-3-2 configuration, will be Taipei Taoyuan-Jakarta to be followed by Munich, Milan, Vienna and San Francisco. “As the world’s first airline to launch premium economy class, EVA Air has consistently focused on innovation driven by passenger needs and setting industry trends,” EVA president, Clay Sun, said at this week’s official unveiling of the cabin at Evergreen Aviation Technologies Corporation’s No 4 Hangar in Taipei. “The fourth generation seats retain the core philosophy of previous generations while enhancing comfort, fashion and functionality, showcasing our commitment to service innovation and attention to detail,” EVA said. The Star Alliance member expects to accept another eight three-class 787-9s and five two-class 787-10s by 2029. It also is scheduled to receive the first of 18 A350-1000s it has ordered in 2027 and for its A321neo deliveries to start from 2029. EVA has ordered 15 of the narrow-bodies from Airbus.
