Vietjet continues rapid expansion with Phu Quoc-Singapore launch; seals US$300 million deal to fund fleet acquisitions

In an official visit to Singapore earlier this week, Vietnam’s General Secretary, To Lam, backed Vietjet’s May 30 launch of Phu Quoc-Singapore and the LCC’s US$300 million aircraft financing agreement with Carlyle Aviation Partners. Read More » Phu Quoc-Singapore will operate four times a week and will increase Vietjet’s Vietnam-Singapore flights to 78 a week. The new route is the LCC’s fourth Vietnam-Singapore rotation after existing Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Da Nang to Singapore. Securing the funds is a step in the company’s fleet expansion which includes orders for more than 400 aircraft, Vietjet said. “We are proud to be a long-term strategic partner of Vietjet, supporting its international growth and commitment to providing affordable, convenient travel options,” Carlyle Aviation Partners president, Alexander Rasnavad, said. “Vietjet is more than an airline. It is a driver of economic trade, investment, education and cultural exchange,” Vietjet chair, Dr Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, said.
