Virgin Australia seeking to relist in mid-year 2025?
April 3rd 2025
Virgin Australia (VA) is planning to return to the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) after an absence of five years, the Australian Financial Review (AFR) exclusively reports. Read More » It said VA’s new CEO, Dave Emerson, is conducting investor meetings in Australia about an Initial Public Offering (IPO) and that the airline’s leaders will meet investors in Singapore later this month. VA was delisted in late 2020 after entering administration at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was acquired by global consultancy, Bain, after several months of negotiations. Bain began the process of relisting in 2023 but abandoned the plan. At press time, Qatar Airways is finalizing its purchase of 25% of VA. According to the AFR report, an important element of VA’s appeal to investors is its positioning in the domestic market, especially since the forced withdrawal of Regional Express (Rex) from inter-city routes. VA had been in discussions with Rex before it collapsed. Instead, it has picked up Rex passengers and also some of its single aisles. VA declined to comment on the AFR report.
