Cathay Pacific touches down in Dallas-Fort Worth and Urumqi

Cathay Pacific has commenced flying to two new destinations. Read More » The oneworld alliance member operated inaugural Hong Kong-Dallas-Fort Worth on April 24, with an A350-1000, registration B-LXO, touching down in Texas a little after 1700 local time after a near 14-hour journey from Hong Kong. The route is operating four times a week. The Hong Kong carrier also has launched four times a week to Urumqi from its home hub with A330-300s. The rotation departs Hong Kong at 0130 and lands in north western China at 0700. The two routes are among 15 new destinations Cathay and its LCC subsidiary, HK Express, intend to open this year. “The launch of our direct passenger flights between Hong Kong and Dallas for the first time demonstrates our commitment to providing our customers with convenient access to the most exciting destinations around the world from our Hong Kong hub,” Cathay Pacific chief customer and commercial officer, Lavinia Lau, said. “As a group, we are continuing to add ports to our passenger network, which will exceed 100 destinations within the first half of this year.” Cathay Group CEO, Ronald Lam, said: “With services to Changzhou and Yiwu to be launched by HK Express in May, the Cathay Group will operate passenger services to 22 destinations in the Chinese Mainland, providing more than 300 return flights per week during the summer peak.”
