China Airlines commits to 14 777Xs and nine options of the passenger variant

China Airlines (CAL) has confirmed orders for 10 777-9s and four 777-8Fs as well as nine options of the passenger type. Read More » Deliveries to Taiwan’s flag carrier will commence in 2030 when the airline will become the first Taiwanese carrier to operate the yet to be launched 777X. CAL plans to fly the passenger 777-9s to North America (Los Angeles) and Europe (Frankfurt). The 777-8Fs will complement CAL 777Fs already in service. The new wide-bodies will be configured with three cabin classes: premium business, premium economy and economy. “This is a significant investment in our future. We will rely on the new 777X family to help realize our long-term sustainability goals,” China Airlines chair, Kao Shing-Hwang, said. “As we welcome China Airlines to the 777X customer family, we are pleased to build on our near 60-year partnership that can be traced to the 707 and 727. We value China Airlines’ continued confidence and look forward to delivering the new 777Xs adorned with the beautiful plum blossom livery in the coming years,” Boeing senior vice president of Commercial Sales and Marketing, Brad McMullen, said.
