China Eastern Airlines narrows interim 2025 losses

China Eastern Airlines (CEA) has reported a net loss of 1.4 billion yuan (US$201 million) for the six months to June 30, bettering a 2.8 billion yuan net loss in first-half last year. "The operating pressure on airlines remained huge in the face of substantial external uncertainties in the industry and the prominent problem of ‘over competition with diminishing returns’," CEA said. "In second half 2025, the company will remain steadfast and unwavering in pursuing its annual mission goals, maintaining strong confidence and rising to challenges as it enhance its core competitiveness and accelerates high quality development."
