Hong Kong International Airport prepares for Super Typhoon Ragasa

Read More » Cathay Pacific has suspended all flights arriving and departing Hong Kong in the 36 hours from 1800 today (23 September) and 0600 on Thursday (25 September). "Based on the latest weather forecast and expected operating conditions, departing flights will progressively resume from Thursday morning," the airline said. At press time, AAHK said it had been in close communications and coordination with the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department (CAD) and airlines to prioritize safety and support impacted passengers. "The three runways at HKIA will remain operational and the terminal building will stay open," AAHK said. "The airport emergency centre will be activated so various units of the airport community, including CAD and airlines, can coordinate closely to formulate and implement contingency measures." To support travellers passengers likely to be impacted by cancelled or delayed flights, the airport has set up a temporary passenger rest area in the terminal with staff to distribute essential supplies including blankets, bottled water and snacks. "AAHK will provide shuttle buses for airport staff travelling between the airport and Tung Chung, and establish staff rest areas to maintain adequate staffing for airport operations and passenger services," AAHK said.
