SpiceJet to add A340 widebody to fleet

Read More » The aircraft, which will be initially operated under a wet lease model before transitioning to a damp lease arrangement, was expected to begin flying by the first week of October, subject to regulatory approvals. The LCC disclosed it was in advanced discussions to lease a second A340 and said the four-engine widebody was "being inducted with the intention of serving as a long-term addition to SpiceJet’s fleet", adding it planned to operate type well beyond a year. "This aircraft will allow us to tap into new markets and expand our international footprint," SpiceJet chief business officer, Debojo Maharshi, said. "With another A340 under negotiation and 18 Boeing 737 aircraft joining our fleet soon, SpiceJet is poised for one of its most ambitious growth phases." The lessor or lessors for the aircraft was not disclosed.
