KLIA sets holiday passenger records

Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) has set a new record for passengers travelling during the Hari Malaysia (Malaysia National Day) weekend and school holidays. Read More » Malaysia Airports said KLIA had 1.8 million travellers go through its terminals during the extended holiday period from September 12 to September 21, which was higher than the 1.7 million passengers during the Hari Raya Adilfitri holidays earlier in 2025. KLIA also set a new hourly record of 12,437 passengers in the 60 minutes between 0700 and 0800 on September 13. "Handling this traffic surge smoothly is a clear demonstration of KLIA’s ability to scale with demand," Malaysia Airports managing director, Dato’ Mohd Izani Ghani, said. "Our focus is not just on managing today’s peak volumes but on building future-ready infrastructure and capabilities that strengthen Malaysia’s position as a global aviation hub."

In other KLIA news, the airport was ranked as the most connected airport in the Asia-Pacific region and the number one airport in the LCC megahubs category in a report by OAG.
