Qantas Airways among companies targeted by ransom seeking hackers

A hacker group has threatened to release personal data records held by about 40 companies, including Australia’s Qantas Airways. Read More » The group, believed to be Scattered Lapsus$ Hunters, issued the ransom demand on the dark web last weekend, media has reported citing cyber security experts. Other companies targetted in the extortion attempt include Air France-KLM, Disney, Ikea and McDonald’s. The hackers claim the data was stolen from Salesforce databases. They have given the companies affected until Friday to negotiate a payment to prevent the release of the data. This latest incident follows a cyber-attack on Qantas last June that potentially exposed the records of up to six million Qantas customers.
