Data of 5.7 million Qantas Airways customers released

A hacker group has delivered on its threat of exposing the personal data records of 5.7 million Qantas Airways customers. Read More » The data was released over the weekend after a deadline set by the hackers passed. About 40 companies, including Air France-KLM, Disney, Ikea and McDonald’s, have been targetted by the hackers. "Qantas is one of a number of companies globally that has had data released by cyber criminals following the airline’s cyber incident in early July when customer data was stolen via a third party platform," Qantas said in a statement on October 12. "With the help of specialist cyber security experts, we are investigating what data was part of the release." The airline group is working closely with Australian Government agencies such as the Australian Cyber Security Centre and the Australian Federal Police on the ransom threat," Qantas said.
