January 19th 2026
South Korea-headquartered Parata Air has moved a step closer to launching nonstop flights to the U.S. after its application for a foreign air permit was approved by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT). Read More » The airline applied to the DOT for a foreign air permit and authorisation to fly to the U.S. in October last year. Its submission said it was planning to commence South Korea-U.S. flights from the start of the next northern hemisphere summer scheduling season on March 26 2026 with two leased A330-200 aircraft on two routes - Seoul Incheon to Las Vegas and Los Angeles. Parata Air, which previously operated as Fly Yangyang and Fly Gangwon prior to a corporate restructuring and being acquired by South Korea-headquartered Winix Inc, currently flies domestically within South Korea and on international routes to Japan and Vietnam. "It is in the public interest to issue the applicant a foreign air carrier permit," the DOT said in its decision. "The applicant is fit, willing, and able to properly perform the foreign air transportation described in the attached permit." South Korea and the U.S. have an open skies agreement.
