Bohai Leasing has announced that on February 27, 2026, it signed a Master Sale and Purchase Agreement with China Southern Airlines (CSA) for 10 Boeing 787-8 aircraft, including two spare GE Aerospace GEnx-1B engines. Read More » The transaction is being done through Bohai Leasing’s subsidiary, Avolon. The market value of the transaction is around $532 million, and the final price will be determined through the exchange bidding process. CSA has decided to sell its entire fleet of 787-8s, delivered to the airline in 2013 and 2014, as part of optimising its fleet structure. The carrier opted to sell its fleet of 787-8s, including two spare engines, as a single package rather than as separate aircraft. With the initial sales process failing to attract buyers, the CSA eventually decided to sell the fleet in an online auction. It is widely speculated that Avolon will lease the purchased fleet to Thai Airways International (Thai). Recently, Thailand’s national carrier confirmed it is in discussions to lease 10 Boeing 787-8s intended for fleet replacement. Chai Eamsiri, Thai’s CEO, confirmed to The Nation in January that his company aims to complete talks by mid-February and begin deliveries in June-July 2026, as it works toward a 100-aircraft fleet this year. To date, it has not been officially confirmed that Thai will use aircraft sources from CSA. According to available sources, CSA’s Boeing 787-8s have 266 seats, including 18 in business class and 248 in economy.
